Welcoming you

Always welcome here!

As summer turns to fall and your Sunday drives seek the beautiful trees and the color changes around our pretty blue lakes —- remember… We are here to welcome and love you!

Our services last about an hour. There’s a hymn, a solo and then about half an hour of readings selected and read worldwide all week long. These are inspired Bible readings accompanied by those from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

The worship and prayer serving to uplift thought and heal. Please do come! We will welcome you and your family with open hearts.

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy…

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy”… so goes the jazz classic. We hope that you’ll find it ‘easy’ to come and visit us this summer. Our small and loving congregation will welcome you and if you are new to Christian Science, be happy to answer any questions you may have. There are many resources available to help you in your study, either at church in our reading room or online at http://www.christianscience.com.

Welcoming you

Easter Gladness! Let us sing…

If you are seeking a church to celebrate the Christ in for Easter blessings, come join us. It may be winter-seeming with a bit of snow but spring IS here. He is risen. He is alive!

Let us sing of Easter gladness
That rejoices every day,
Sing of hope and faith uplifted;
Love has rolled the stone away.
Lo, the promise and fulfillment,
Lo, the man whom God hath made,
Seen in glory of an Easter
Crowned with light that cannot fade.

When we touch Truth’s healing garment
And behold Life’s purity,
When we find in Love the refuge
That is man’s security,
When we turn from earth to Spirit,
And from self have won release,
Then we see the risen Saviour;
Then we know his promised peace.

Living meekly as the Master,
Who of God was glorified,
Looking ever to the radiance
Of his wondrous Eastertide;
Freed of fear, of pain, and sorrow,
Giving God the honor due,
Every day will be an Easter
Filled with benedictions new.

Welcoming you

Summer Visitors

We love having you visit our church… Summer in Charlevoix is glorious.

Are you attending a Christian Science Sunday church service for the first time? You’ll find there are many elements which will be familiar to you — hymns, prayer, solo, readings from the Bible, a warm sense of fellowship. Our services last an hour, and Sunday School begins and ends at the same time. Our Wednesday Testimony services are similar and include testimonies of healing and examples of practicing Christian Science in everyday life.

Generally, there is parking available along the street. If there is a festival going on and parking scarce, please waive at the usher at the door and we will suggest a solution.

Save the date for a talk on Christian Science on Saturday July 1, 2023 – 2 pm

“How spiritual perception brings healing” by Alexandre Fischer CS

Petoskey and Charlevoix Christian Science Churches offer a talk for the public by Alexandre Fischer CS of Pau, France at the Charlevoix Public Library Community Meeting Room 220 Clinton Street, Charlevoix | Saturday July 1, 2023 2 pm. Free.

The talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free, open to the community, and sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Petoskey and the Christian Science Society, Charlevoix.

“We are not stuck!” encourages Fischer. “Understanding more clearly our relationship with God, infinite good, ends fear and leads the way forward.”

Sharing examples of healing from his own life and professional practice of Christian Science, Fischer will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.

Fischer will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy, who came to understand, confirm, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand, “He that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible).

For over 150 years, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties.

Alex Fischer has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years, helping people on a daily basis through this scientific approach to prayer.  He travels from his home base in the southwest of France to speak to audiences around the world as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
