Our Society has served the local community here in Charlevoix since 1906. However at this time September 2026, we are closing our Society. There are three welcoming Christian Science Churches in the region available for you; Traverse City, Petoskey and Glen Arbor.

Christian Science history (From the Church By-Laws 1966). “The summer of 1906 a few loyal Christian Scientists, who were spending the summer at Charlevoix, started public services. The two following summers these services were continued, with increasing attendance, and in the fall of 1908 the town people where were interested in Christian Science, decided to continue the services during the winter.
May 24, 1909, this little band of earnest Truth seekers, wishing to establish on a firmer foundation, the teachings of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, organized Christian Science Society of Charlevoix, Michigan with nine charter members. Regular Sunday and Wednesday evening services were instituted and a Reading Room established. From this time forth the Society carried on the the work, conforming as nearly as possible to that of an organized church.

This Society desires to keep forever in view its vital relation to the Mother Church [The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, MA], and to consecrate its activities to the sacred cause of establish Truth on the earth, through its service to humanity.
It stands for democratic government, equal rights and privileges, equality of the sexes, and rotation in office”. The preamble of Society By-Laws, July 5, 1966
